Man ReadingBuilding a career in Information Technology can be a dizzying fast paced way of life. With the rate of new technologies emerge everyday, today's hot stuff can be obsolete in a matter of couple of months. Being up to date on the latest trends and skill sets is the key to success in information technology. I've been an IT Professional for almost 3 years now and I found that the Internet is a great resource in keeping yourself up to date. Here are some of the websites I usually watch/read to help me "sharpen my saw".

OSNews Screenshot

OSnews - OSnews is my favorite Operating System Portal. It provides news and articles for almost all major operating systems as well as the lesser known ones. It also tackles quite a bit of other IT related topics.

PC World Website Screenshot

PC World - PC World on the other provides even broader selection information from news, howtos. It primarily focuses on consumer level products and services. Pcworld also hosts a forum for its members to collaborate and share information. For enterprises or businesses, PC World has its Business Center. Since its network of news providers is quite sizable I usually refer here for most recent IT news.

Techrepublic Screenshot

Tech Republic - is my main recommendation for both newbie and veteran IT professionals. It is a thriving community of helpful of people who are willing to help each other whether you are a newbie or guru.

FreshMeat Screenshot

FreshMeat.Net - Freshmeat is an astonishly HUGE listing of various software available for download in the internet. It does not directly hosts these programs but acts as a great directory where users can search for almost any software they need.

Symantec Security Response

Symantec Security Response Blog - Symantec (read: Norton) has been in the PC Security business for more than I care to remember and the guys here are quite knowledge in their field. I regularly refer here for security issues that may possibly threaten the networks in my care.

Most of these sites have RSS Feeds you can you get updated by subscribing the them.
