Catch someone doing something GOOD

I currently live in Barangay Kapitolyo and I work in company based in Makati. So my daily routine includes a grueling commute to my office via MRT. One time, I was minding my own walk up the MRT Ayala Station when a paster caught my attention. And large print the poster said “Catch Somebody… Doing Good Today”.

I actually stopped and stared at the poster for about a minute.

After awhile it dawned to me, most of us, if not all of the people in our families, companies, communities, country and even the whole world, have a tendency to see only wrong deeds and the people doing them. We notice people playing card games in their computers wherein they should be working. We notice some people take too many smoke breaks and think they’re slacking off. We notice our “lazy” siblings napping or just watching TV wherein they should be helping with the house chores. We see these known senator or some other political figure going to the United States for some “business” ventures where in they should focus on helping the country recover, etc.

All these we can see and its easy to just think that the world is becoming more evil everyday.

But how about we stop, just like what happened to me, and take a long look at our families, companies, community, country and world. How about we try this, see through the day looking for actual people doing good deeds. A metro aide personnel sweating it out just to clean the streets of Makati. Our mothers giving as a cold drink after we go home from daily basketball with the barkada. A young man helping an elderly woman cross the street.

Thats what I actually did, after seeing that poster in the MRT Station. And to my amazement, I saw a lot of POSITIVE DEEDS the whole day. If we just try to look for something, we can actually find it. If we focus on the Good things that are happening, we’ll find out that life isn’t that hard or the world is not that evil.
